Randomify Tool
Random Letter Generator
Perfect for literacy games, brainstorming prompts, or picking initials at random.
How to Use the Random Letter Generator
- 1Choose a case mode: Uppercase, Lowercase, or Either. This controls whether the drawn letters are capitals, small letters, or a random mix.
- 2Set the count (1–50) using the input or quick-select buttons (1, 5, 10, 26).
- 3Optionally filter to Vowels Only or Consonants Only. The pool-size indicator updates to show how many letters are available.
- 4Toggle "No repeats" if every letter in the draw must be unique.
- 5Toggle "Phonetic alphabet" to display the NATO name alongside each letter (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc.).
- 6Click Generate. Letters appear as individual cards (for 10 or fewer) or inline text (for larger draws). Copy results with the copy button.
When to Use the Random Letter Generator
A primary-school teacher runs a spelling warm-up by generating one random letter at a time and asking students to name a word starting with that letter. Filtering to consonants only avoids the easy vowel-start words and raises the challenge level.
A group playing Scattergories needs a random letter for the round. One click picks the letter and everyone can see it on the projected screen — faster than flipping through a physical letter die.
A radio operator practises the NATO phonetic alphabet by generating letters with the phonetic toggle on, reading each one aloud: "Foxtrot, Lima, Tango." The colour-coded display makes it easy to self-check.
A writer brainstorming character names generates five random initials and free-associates full names from each one. The randomness pushes creativity beyond habitual letter combinations.
Random Letter Generator vs. Random Number Generator
The Letter Generator draws from the 26-letter English alphabet with options for case, vowel/consonant filtering, and phonetic display. The Number Generator draws integers from any numeric range. Use letters for word games, spelling drills, and creative prompts; use numbers for raffles, test data, and numeric decisions. Try the Random Number Generator →
Choose uppercase, lowercase, or a mix, then specify how many letters to pull (up to fifty). Randomify draws from the alphabet instantly and can block repeats when you’re running scavenger hunts, word games, or icebreakers that need unique initials. All draws happen locally, so it’s safe to project in classrooms or drop into livestreams without worrying about data collection.
Copy the output to seed creative writing prompts, assign partner pairings, or practice spelling drills on the fly. The monospace display keeps letters easy to read while the neon palette makes the reveal feel special even for quick exercises.
